Over the past weekend it was Canada’s 150th birthday! I celebrated with a relaxing weekend filled with friends and family. Canada day is a time to celebrate life in general but more importantly all the things Canada has to offer. Free health care, a welcoming society, our education system, and our freedom to be who we want to be. With all the positive things that being a Canadian provides, it brings family and friends together to celebrate such a privileged Country.
When hosting a Canada day gathering, you obviously need to make sure you have the essentials: Hot dogs, Hamburgers and buns. Personally I like to focus all my effort on the sweet tooth side of things since dinner is a no-brainer! Easy grab and go desserts are a popular choice as most people are gathered around a BBQ. For this particular BBQ, I wanted something fun that everyone could get excited over, so naturally I went to Le Dolci and ordered a Canada Day cake! It certainly did not disappoint and was the talk of the town that evening. I also purchased some Toronto themed eclairs from the famous Nugateau bakery.
When it comes to table decor, Homesense Canada is by far the best place to shop for affordable and cute themed pieces. I picked up a few key elements including red & white straws, a cake stand & clear plastic drinking cups. All 3 pieces for under $30! I simply cannot say enough good things about Homesense other than- I CAN’T GET ENOUGH!!!!
Let me know in the comments how you celebrated Canada’s birthday!
